I get asked this question all the time now. And, honestly its very annoying. I wish I could answer them real bold like this: "I folded the magazine to keep my sanity." Because, well... that is the truth.
I believe if I had more people on my team, my magazine would've been a success, or on its way to being a successful magazine. But, I didn't, and I can't cry over it. It hurts that I had to fold it, but I had to do what's best for me.
At least I tried. Plenty people didn't realize how hard it was to even run a magazine. I ran the magazine with no knowledge of what was to be done- maybe, thats where I'd blame myself, but I read books, and read articles online to see how they run..but, regardless it was hard, especially with one (wo)man running the show all the time.
Even if I had people say "Oh yeah, I'll help you"... they'll just be flakes.. so, I think I did the right thing by letting the magazine fold.
I still write. For other online magazines but at least I'm still letting my name be known, and the most importantly I'm STILL writing. Regardless, of what the outcome was.
I'm still writing, and I will continue to write until my hands fall off.

Again- people suck and always look for one to fall.
However you didn't fall nor was the mag unsuccessful- you just put it on hold while you work on other goals that will place you in a better position to re-open.
Please, you've done wonderfully and you're doing the right thing... you HAD to reposition yourself for greatness!
I, like you- do believe if we had more people to work with us on our goals we could reach them faster...it's hard finding people like yourself- it's tough to find a supporting cast... we have so many flakes in the world lol
